Heads up: we're Ryz Labs, so we have skin in this game. What follows is the advice we give buyers on calls, including the times we tell them to go with someone else.
Choose Ryz if you're a US enterprise, in any industry, that wants a senior AI pod team working inside your cloud and repos, on US hours, shipping an AI system to production. We're trusted by Fortune 500 engineering teams, and our pods have done exactly that, including a fraud detection system with $5.94M in confirmed fraud and a compliance review system that has processed 8,000+ documents for a global capital management firm.
Choose Thoughtworks if you want an engineering-led global consultancy (10,000+ people, 18 countries) to lead a large modernization or enterprise agent program, with strategy, design, data and engineering under one roof and its 2026 platforms, AI/works and Agent/works.
Consulting and engineering under one roof. Thoughtworks has been doing engineering-led consulting for more than three decades and describes itself as a pioneer of agile software development and microservices. Its teams mix architects, designers, data scientists and strategists with developers. If you need help shaping the program as well as building it, that blend is a real advantage over an engineering-only pod.
Its own AI platforms. AI/works, launched in January 2026, is an agentic development platform for reverse engineering legacy systems into specifications and generating code and tests. Thoughtworks ties it to a "3-3-3 delivery model" it describes as a path from idea to production in 90 days. Agent/works, launched in June 2026, is a control plane and governed runtime for AI agents on any cloud, with scoped, time-limited agent permissions and cost controls. We don't sell platforms. If you want a vendor runtime for an agent fleet, Thoughtworks has one.
A public, quantified financial services case. Thoughtworks moved a large global card issuer (it doesn't name the client) from a monolith to microservices. It says the new consumer lending line reached $800M in revenue within 24 months, the platform handles 25M+ real-time card transactions a day, and releases went from quarterly to several a day. That's a modernization project, not an AI one, but it shows Thoughtworks can rebuild core financial systems at scale.
Analyst recognition. Thoughtworks reports being named a Leader and Customer Favorite in The Forrester Wave: Modern Application Development Services, Q1 2025, being included in The Forrester Wave: AI Technical Services, Q4 2025, and being a Visionary in the 2025 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Custom Software Development Services. We don't have analyst ratings. If your procurement process weighs them, that counts.
Our pods ship to production. One Ryz pod built AI fraud detection for a global fleet company: 244K+ invoices scored, under 30 seconds per invoice, and $5.94M in confirmed fraud, validated by the client's own fraud team. Another built AI marketing compliance review for a global capital management firm that has processed 8,000+ documents and cut review from days to hours. Others built an AI voice platform that has handled 1M+ outbound calls. Client names stay private; the details are on our case studies page.
A senior pod inside your cloud and repos. A typical pod is about 7 senior engineers, including a tech lead, an ML engineer and backend engineers, working as one team. They work in your repos, your CI and your standups, inside your cloud (AWS, Azure, GitHub, Postgres, with Anthropic and OpenAI models), and show working software in weekly demos.
New York hours. Our engineers are in Latin America and work within about an hour of US time zones, so code review and decisions happen the same day. At its last public filing, about 63% of Thoughtworks' people were in Asia-Pacific and about 9% in North America, so overlap depends on which offices staff your work.
You choose the engineers. We've interviewed tens of thousands of engineers, and only the top 1% make it. You get a recruiter-curated shortlist, you run the final interview, and our quote comes with the names of the people who would do the work. See our vetting process.
You own the result. When the system is running, you can grow the pod with more people or disciplines, or have it hand the whole system over to your team. The code and the know-how stay with you.
Production AI, not only modernization. Thoughtworks' public financial services case is a modernization project, and the AI results on its site come from life sciences, manufacturing and nonprofit work. Our production examples above are AI systems running for clients in several industries, built by a pod rather than run as a consulting program.
Where we're not the right fit. If you need a management-consulting or board-level transformation program, a proprietary platform for governing agents across the enterprise, engineers in Europe or Asia time zones, or analyst-rated delivery for procurement, Thoughtworks is the better choice. The same goes if you want published, self-serve pricing before a conversation.
Thoughtworks doesn't publish pricing or minimum engagement sizes. Its last annual report says it uses both time-and-materials and fixed-price contracts. Expect consulting-style scoping.
Our pricing is a custom quote, scoped per team. We scope first because the pod depends on your system, data and how much your own engineers will carry. You get a scoped plan, a price and the names of the people who would do the work. The catch: you can't see a number before a conversation, with either of us.

No. Apax Funds took it private in 2024 in a deal valued at about $1.75B. Its last public annual report covered 2023, so recent financial detail is limited.
Financial services and insurance was 17.5% of its 2023 revenue, about $197M, per its 10-K. We didn't find a named financial institution AI case study on its site.
Thoughtworks' agentic development platform, launched January 2026. It reads legacy systems, turns them into specifications and generates code and tests. It works with AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure, Databricks and Snowflake.
Yes. Our pods work in your stack with your other vendors. If a consultancy owns the roadmap, a pod can build a specific system inside it. Talk to us about scope.
