Full disclosure: we're Ryz Labs, and Azumo is a competitor. We think we're the better pick for most US engineering teams, and we explain why below. Every fact about Azumo comes from its own website, linked at the end.
For most US engineering teams, Ryz Labs is the better choice. You get top 1% senior Latin American engineers who join your standups, your repos and your roadmap on US business hours. When you need AI built, an AI pod team of senior engineers builds it in your cloud, alongside your people, and ships it to production. Before you start, you get a plan, a price and the names of the people who would do the work. Fortune 500 engineering teams trust us for this.
Azumo is a San Francisco-headquartered nearshore software company that has built AI software since 2016. It sells dedicated teams, staff augmentation and full project builds, and prices project work per "Delivery Unit." It fits if you want a vendor to own a scoped build at a per-feature price. If you want senior engineers working on your team and an AI pod that ships inside your own stack, pick Ryz.
The work stays in your stack. Azumo's model leans toward Azumo owning delivery: its pricing page breaks your scope into Delivery Units and gives you a price for the build. That's a fair model for a defined project. Our model starts from the other end. Our engineers work on your team, in your repos and CI, and report to your leads. The code, the decisions and the context stay with your people, so nothing has to be handed back at the end.
AI pod teams that build in your cloud. Our second business is dedicated pods of senior engineers that build AI systems in your AWS or Azure account, on your GitHub, with your data in Postgres and models from Anthropic and OpenAI. A typical pod is about 7 people, including a tech lead, an ML engineer and backend engineers. We don't sell our own AI platform, so we have no reason to steer you toward one. The pod builds what fits your stack, then you can grow it or take the whole system over.
Production proof. Our pods have shipped fraud detection for a global fleet company that has scored 244K+ invoices in under 30 seconds each, with $5.94M in fraud confirmed by the client's own fraud team. A marketing-compliance system for a global capital management firm took review of 8,000+ documents from days to hours. An AI voice platform has made 1M+ outbound calls. See our case studies.
Top 1% vetting you can inspect. We've interviewed tens of thousands of engineers, and only the top 1% make it. Recruiters source, our in-house ARC system ranks the pipeline, and every candidate goes through a structured NTRVSTA AI interview, with recruiter review before and after. AI scores are advisory, and people decide. Our vetting process page shows every step.
Per-engineer pricing you can plan around. We publish our ranges: $7,000-$15,000 per engineer per month for most mid-level and senior engineers. You can budget a team before the first call, and you get the names of the people with the quote.
Azumo describes itself as an AI-native nearshore software development company. It says it designs, builds and staffs AI-driven web, mobile and data software, and lists SOC 2 certification. For staff augmentation, its process runs Discover, Select, Integrate: Azumo's architects handpick candidates, you meet and select them, and the engineers start working with your team. Azumo adds a kickoff with its VP of Engineering, CTO, project manager and customer success manager, daily standups, weekly internal reviews and a "bench strength" protocol where extra people learn your application in reserve. For project builds, it scopes the work into Delivery Units, each a "defined, testable piece of working software," and quotes the full price before work begins.
Azumo publishes project pricing of $499 to $899 per Delivery Unit. Starter work (MVPs and proofs of concept) is $899 per unit, Growth is $699, and Platform programs are $499, with custom rates on request. We didn't find published staff augmentation rates on Azumo's site.
Our pricing is per engineer. Typical cost is $7,000-$15,000 per engineer per month. Mid-level engineers (comparable to Amazon L5 / SDE II) run $7,000-$10,000 a month. Senior engineers (comparable to Amazon L6) run $10,000-$15,000. Leads are $15,000+ and quoted per team. Project cost is simple arithmetic: team size × duration × monthly rate. Four senior engineers for six months at $12,000 each is $288,000. You get a plan, a price and the names of the people before you start.
They price differently, so compare the same work. Azumo prices projects per Delivery Unit; we price per engineer per month. Ask Azumo how many Delivery Units your scope needs, then compare that total with team size × months × our monthly rate for the same scope.
Yes, with one difference. Our AI pod teams build in your cloud and repos, alongside your engineers, so your team owns the system from day one. Our pods have systems in production, from fraud detection to an AI driver-support agent that covers about 218,000 driver calls a year in three languages.
Yes. Azumo says its teams work from Latin America. All of our engineers are in Latin America and work on US business hours, so standups and code review happen the same day.
Ryz engineers work on your team, reporting to your leads. Talk to us to scope your team.
We checked Azumo's site in October 2026. Pricing and services change, so confirm the details with Azumo before you sign.
