Quick note before we start: this was written by Ryz Labs, and we're one of the options below. We're biased, so we've been straight about where others beat us.
Distillery is a well-reviewed nearshore firm with over 250 professionals across Latin America and Eastern Europe, a 5.0/5 Clutch rating, and visible AI partnerships with Anthropic and OpenAI. People still look elsewhere for a few reasons. Pricing isn't published, and Clutch lists a $25,000+ minimum. A couple of Clutch reviewers mention not getting enough profiles to review, or finding it hard to judge hire quality. Vetting criteria aren't published. And with part of the team in Eastern Europe, US-hours overlap depends on who you get. If Distillery is delivering for you, there are good reasons to stay, and we cover them below.
If you want a deep shortlist of senior engineers who work as part of your team, start with us. Fortune 500 engineering teams trust us for exactly this. Our engineers join your standups and repos from week one, all within an hour of US time zones. Only the top 1% make it, out of tens of thousands of engineers interviewed: recruiters source, our in-house ARC system ranks the pipeline, structured NTRVSTA AI interviews narrow it, and a recruiter curates the shortlist before you run the final interview. Our AI pod teams are dedicated pods of senior engineers that build AI systems inside your cloud and ship them to production. Our case studies show the results.
Where we're not the right fit: if you want the vendor to own a full build with its own design and PM, or engineers in Eastern Europe, Distillery or BairesDev fits better. For a head-to-head, see Ryz Labs vs Distillery.
If Distillery's bench felt thin, BairesDev is the scale option. It says it has 4,000+ engineers across 100+ technologies and offers staff augmentation, dedicated teams and project outsourcing. It says teams are ready in two to four weeks. The catch: some Clutch reviewers mention rate increases and early developer churn. See Ryz Labs vs BairesDev.
If you like Distillery's full-service model but need more scale, Wizeline says it has about 2,000 employees and sells Studio, Project and Staff models plus "Agentic Pods" and Forward Deployed Engineers. It holds a 4.9/5 Clutch rating. The catch: a $100,000+ minimum on Clutch, and one reviewer mentioned team changes. See Ryz Labs vs Wizeline.
If you only need one or two developers, Jobsity's flat monthly rate, 30-day risk-free trial and 30-day downsizing notice keep the commitment small. It sources only from Latin America. The catch: only five Clutch reviews, and no dedicated AI team offering. See Ryz Labs vs Jobsity.
If you value Distillery's mix of LatAm and European delivery, Nortal has a bigger version of it, with 2700+ people, platform-certified specialists and "AI-native teams." The catch: staffing is one line in a large consultancy, and its own page quotes a 4-8 week ramp. See Ryz Labs vs Nearsure.
Stay if your team is delivering well. Distillery's 5.0/5 Clutch rating suggests most clients are happy, and switching vendors costs real time. Stay if you want one partner to own a full build, including UX, QA and project management. Stay if formal Anthropic or OpenAI partner status matters to your procurement team, or if you need people in Eastern Europe as well as Latin America.
Consider moving if you're struggling to get enough senior profiles, if you need everyone on US hours, or if you want an AI pod team that builds and ships an AI system in your own cloud. Our guide to the best partners to take an AI pilot to production compares more options.
For a dedicated team building an AI system in your cloud, look at AI pod teams like ours. For a large managed AI program, look at Wizeline. If you just need an individual, see how we place AI engineers.
Jobsity works on monthly terms for single developers. We scope per team, starting from a few engineers. Wizeline lists the highest minimum on Clutch ($100,000+).
Ryz, BairesDev and Jobsity are Latin America based and overlap well with US Eastern time. Wizeline and Nortal also deliver from Europe or Asia.
