We'll say this up front: Ryz Labs wrote this page, and we think we're the better choice here. We've kept every fact about other companies to what they publish themselves or what public listings show, with sources at the end.
Lemon.io doesn't publish a client price list. Its homepage FAQ says "No upfront fees, you only pay for the work delivered." What it does publish is developer rate data: its rate calculator shows a senior median of $45/hr, mid-level $34/hr and strong senior $55/hr (Q3 2026). Lemon.io notes those figures are "Not a self-reported survey, not a client price," so what you pay includes Lemon.io's share on top. Its Terms of Use add prepaid billing and a flat placement fee for direct hires. Clutch lists a $25-$49/hr band and a $1,000+ minimum project.
For most US teams, the better value is Ryz Labs. You get top 1% senior Latin American engineers who join your team on New York hours, and before you sign you see a scoped plan, a price, and the names of the people who would do the work. If you're budgeting for engineers who will own part of your system, get a Ryz quote alongside any marketplace numbers.
On guarantees: replacements during the LemonHire trial are free. After a direct hire, there's a 60-day guarantee period with a free replacement, or a full placement-fee refund if Lemon.io can't replace the developer within 30 days.
Region. Lemon.io's own data shows senior medians of $40/hr in Latin America, $44/hr in Europe and the UK, and $68/hr in the US. Its 2025 self-review describes the pool as mostly senior engineers from Eastern Europe, so the developer you pick also sets your overlap with US Eastern hours.
Seniority. The spread from mid-level to strong senior in Lemon.io's data is about $21/hr on the developer side. The self-review says average rates through Lemon.io "are typically $45-$80 per hour."
Contract vs direct hire. Contract work has no upfront fee. A direct hire carries the placement fee, which changes the math if you only need someone for a few months.
Management. Lemon.io matches individual developers and says in its terms that it doesn't supervise their work. The time your leads spend managing and coordinating is part of the real cost.
We quote per team, scoped to the work you actually need. After a first conversation you get three things in writing: a scoped plan, a price, and the names of the people who would do the work. You know who you're paying for before you sign.
You sign one contract with Ryz. Our engineers work with us as independent contractors, and we handle paying them. If you want someone on your own payroll instead, we also offer direct-hire placement and executive search.
The price buys top 1% senior Latin American engineers, out of tens of thousands interviewed, who join your standups, repos and roadmap from week one, within about one hour of US time zones. They work to your leads, so you're not paying for a vendor layer between you and the code. Fortune 500 engineering teams trust us for exactly this.
When you need AI built, an AI pod team (about 7 senior engineers, including a tech lead and an ML engineer) works inside your cloud and repos with weekly demos and ships to production. Our case studies include fraud detection that has scored 244K+ invoices in under 30 seconds each, with $5.94M in fraud confirmed by the client's fraud team.
Lemon.io fits a startup that wants a freelance developer for a few hours a week or a single sprint, managed in-house.
For most US teams building something that lasts, Ryz is the better value. A marketplace rate covers one developer you supervise yourself, from a pool whose overlap with New York depends on who you pick. A Ryz quote covers top 1% senior engineers who work as part of your team on US hours, named before you sign, with AI pod teams available when you need AI shipped to production.
