Ryz Labs vs Lemon.io

A fast developer marketplace built for startups, versus senior Latin American engineers embedded in your team on US hours.

Heads up: we're Ryz Labs, so we have skin in this game. What follows is the advice we give buyers on calls, including the times we tell them to go with someone else.

The short answer

Choose Ryz Labs if you're a US company that wants senior Latin American engineers working inside your team on US hours, for the long run, or an AI pod team that builds AI systems inside your stack. We're trusted by Fortune 500 engineering teams and only the top 1% make it through our vetting. Choose Lemon.io if you're a startup that needs one developer fast, part-time or for a single sprint, and you're happy to manage the work yourself.

Where Lemon.io is better

Speed for a single hire. Lemon.io says matching takes about 24 hours, with candidates the next day and interviews the same week. Client testimonials on its homepage describe hires in under a week. If you need a developer on a ticket by Friday, that's hard to beat.

No minimums. Lemon.io says there's no minimum on hours or duration, and work can be part-time or full-time. That fits an MVP, one sprint, or a few hours a week of help. We're built for long-term, embedded engagements, so we're the wrong pick for a short gig.

Unusually open numbers. Lemon.io publishes median developer rates by seniority and region (a senior median of $45/hr in Q3 2026, by its rate calculator), and its Terms of Use spell out the direct-hire trial, fees and a 60-day replacement guarantee. Those are developer earnings, not client prices, but it's still more than most firms show, including us.

Strong reviews. Lemon.io holds 4.8/5 from 370 reviews on Trustpilot (Oct 2026), though many reviewers are developers rather than clients.

Where Ryz is better

US hours, guaranteed. Every Ryz engineer is in Latin America and works within about one hour of US time zones, so standups, pairing and code review happen the same day. Lemon.io's pool is global and, by its own description, mostly Eastern European. Overlap with New York depends on who you pick.

Team members, not marketplace matches. Lemon.io's terms say it doesn't supervise developers' work, so delivery management stays with you. Our engineers join your standups, repos and roadmap from week one, as part of your team, and stay. That matters when someone needs to own part of the system for a year, not a sprint.

Top 1% vetting with people in charge. Recruiters source, our in-house ARC system ranks the pipeline, and every candidate does a structured NTRVSTA AI interview. Recruiters review each candidate before and after. AI scores are advisory; people make the decisions. Only the top 1% make it, out of tens of thousands of engineers interviewed, and you run the final interview from a recruiter-curated shortlist. See our vetting process.

AI pod teams that ship. Lemon.io matches individuals. We also run dedicated pods of senior engineers (often about 7 people, including a tech lead, an ML engineer and backend engineers) that build AI systems inside your cloud and repos, with weekly demos. Our case studies include an AI driver-support agent handling 218K conversations a year in three languages, and fraud detection that has confirmed $5.94M in fraud for a global fleet company.

Pricing

Lemon.io doesn't publish what clients pay per hour. Its homepage says "No upfront fees," and its Terms of Use describe a prepaid subscription: you keep at least one week of services on balance (card) or one month (ACH or wire). For direct hires, the terms set a flat placement fee. The 4-week trial costs the developer's hourly rate plus a $2,000 management fee, which is deducted from the placement fee if you hire. The same placement fee applies if you hire or pay a developer off-platform. Clutch lists a $25-$49/hr band (per Clutch, Oct 2026), which is a directory range, not Lemon.io's price.

Our pricing is a custom quote, scoped per team. You sign one contract with Ryz; our engineers work with us as independent contractors, and we handle paying them. You get a scoped plan, a price, and the names of the people who'd do the work. If you want self-serve pricing and a sign-up today, Lemon.io is easier.
