Full disclosure: we're Ryz Labs, and we're one of the options on this page. So yes, we're biased. Here's what we'd actually tell a friend, including when you should hire someone else.
Turing has changed. It's a San Francisco AI company best known today for supplying training data, evaluations and RL environments to frontier AI labs. It also sells enterprise AI build work, called Turing Intelligence, in three forms (Advise, Augment and Build), delivered by "Turing pods" and forward-deployed engineers. People look for alternatives for two different reasons. Some used Turing to hire remote developers, and Turing's own site no longer surfaces a developer-staffing offer (Sacra and press coverage describe a pivot away from seat-based staffing). Others are weighing Turing for an AI build and notice that enterprise services are a newer line next to the lab business, its financial-services results are anonymized, and delivery comes from a distributed global network. If you need model-level expertise, Turing may still be the right choice.
If you want senior engineers who build AI inside your cloud and ship it, working your hours, start with us. Fortune 500 engineering teams trust us, and our AI pod teams are dedicated groups of senior engineers (often around seven, including a tech lead and an ML engineer) who work in your repos, CI and standups, with weekly demos. We work in AWS, Azure, GitHub and Postgres, with Anthropic and OpenAI models. Pods have shipped an AI voice platform that has made 1M+ outbound calls, a driver-support agent that works in three languages, and fraud detection that scores each invoice in under 30 seconds. See our case studies. And if you came to Turing for developers, we still do that too: top 1% senior Latin American engineers embedded in your team, and you run the final interview.
Where we're not the right fit: we don't do model training, post-training or evaluation work for labs, and we don't run a self-serve marketplace or offer engineers in Europe or Asia time zones. If fine-tuning and evaluation depth is the job, Turing's background is hard to match. Compare us directly at Ryz Labs vs Turing.
Tribe AI is a close match to Turing's Build offer. It uses forward-deployed engineers from a network of senior AI practitioners, and its Map, Build and Activate phases cover adoption after launch. It joined Google Cloud's Gemini Enterprise for Legal and Financial Services program and says it is SOC 2 Type II certified. The catch: it's small (a 500+ contractor network as of 2024, per TechCrunch), and contracted talent can affect continuity on long engagements.
If you came to Turing for developer staffing, Andela is the most similar model still focused on it. They say they have 17,000 certified AI-native engineers, and they sell individual engineers, blended teams, AI system development and training. The catch: overlap with US Eastern time varies by region, and pricing isn't published.
Toptal markets freelance AI experts you can hire hourly, part-time or full-time. They say the average match takes under 24 hours and offer a no-risk trial of up to two weeks. It suits short or advisory AI work. The catch: Clutch lists a $100-$149/hr band, and you manage the freelancers yourself.
Globant sells "AI Pods": a monthly subscription with token-metered capacity, where agents do the work under expert supervision. Like Turing it uses the word "pod," but it means something different. It's NYSE-listed with 28,773 employees at the end of 2025. The catch: you're buying supervised agent output, and the AI Pods line is young ($20.6M ARR in FY2025).
Stay if model-level depth is what you need. Turing's core business supplies data and evaluation to frontier labs such as OpenAI, Google, Anthropic and Meta (per Sacra), and that experience with post-training and evaluation is rare among services firms. Stay if you need to scale AI talent quickly: Turing says its network has 4M+ engineers and experts. Stay if its Advise, Augment and Build split matches how you want to buy, because you can start with advice and move to an owned build. It also says clients keep their code and IP, with no vendor lock-in. And Turing is well funded, with a $111M Series E at a $2.2B valuation in March 2025.
Consider moving if you want a team on New York hours with continuity you can see, or named engineers in your standups every day. Our guide to forward-deployed engineering firms compares how each one embeds.
We couldn't find a developer-staffing offer on turing.com when we checked, and Sacra describes a pivot away from seat-based staffing. Its Augment offer embeds AI-native talent, so ask Turing directly what fits your need.
For a dedicated team in your time zone, us. For senior specialists with strategy support, Tribe AI. For a large vendor, Globant. See our guide to partners that take an AI pilot to production.
The posting we verified was in Hyderabad, India (hybrid). Others may exist, so ask where your team will sit.
