Full disclosure: we're Ryz Labs, and we're on this list. So yes, we're biased. Here's what we'd actually tell a friend, including when you should hire someone else.
For ecommerce, the deciding question is your platform. A Shopify Plus store, an Adobe Commerce (Magento) estate, an ERP-connected B2B portal and a custom headless stack each need a different kind of partner. Pick the firm that already lives on your platform, unless your platform is your own code.
Ecommerce bugs cost money by the minute. A broken checkout on a Friday sale, a slow product listing page, an inventory sync that oversells: each one shows up in revenue the same day. That's why platform experience matters more here than in most software. A team that has migrated twenty Magento stores to Hyvä knows where the bodies are buried. A team that hasn't will learn on your store.
The second thing is integrations. Most commerce work isn't the storefront. It's the ERP, the PIM, the OMS, the payment provider, the tax engine and the 3PL. B2B adds price lists, quotes, PunchOut and EDI. Ask any vendor which of your systems they have connected before, and ask for a live example.
Third, decide whether you want an agency or engineers. Agencies bring design, CRO and marketing with the build. Engineering teams work in your repos on your roadmap. Both are valid. They just suit different stages.
Diff calls itself a "Shopify Platinum Partner" and "Shopify's longest-standing partner agency." It offers commerce builds, integrations, UX/UI design, growth and analytics, and custom app development.
Why it fits: if you're committed to Shopify Plus, a partner that has worked on the platform this long has seen most edge cases. The catch: it's Shopify-centered, so it's not the pick for Adobe Commerce or a custom stack.
Scandiweb builds and replatforms on Adobe Commerce (including Hyvä themes), Shopify Plus, BigCommerce, Salesforce Commerce Cloud and SAP Commerce Cloud, and adds PIM work (Pimcore, Akeneo, Inriver), UX and growth marketing. It claims 700+ clients and 2,100+ completed projects.
Why it fits: Magento depth plus everything around it, under one roof. The catch: most of the team is in Europe, so plan overlap with US hours. It has a New York account manager, per its contact page.
Elogic positions itself around ERP-connected B2B and B2B2C commerce. It lists integrations with SAP S/4HANA, NetSuite, Dynamics 365 and Akeneo, says it has 200+ specialists and 17+ years, and is an Adobe Silver Solution Partner and Shopify Plus Partner. It also offers staff augmentation and dedicated teams.
Why it fits: B2B buying (quotes, price lists, approvals) is where generic agencies struggle, and that's Elogic's stated focus. The catch: it's B2B-first, so a DTC fashion brand may be better served by a Shopify agency.
We Make Websites describes itself as "the Shopify agency for international brands" and says it has been a Shopify Partner since 2011. Services include UX and design, CRO, Shopify development, internationalization, data migration and headless builds. It's "A BORN agency," per its site.
Why it fits: multi-market Shopify setups (currencies, languages, markets) are its stated specialty. The catch: like Diff, it's a Shopify shop, not a fit for other platforms.
Publicis Sapient's digital commerce practice covers B2B and B2C commerce, channel strategy and the digital shelf "across physical, digital, B2B, B2C and marketplaces." It lists Adobe, AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft and Salesforce as partners. Corra, a known commerce agency, now redirects to Publicis Sapient's commerce page.
Why it fits: when commerce is one part of a bigger change program with strategy, data and marketing in scope. The catch: it's built for enterprise programs, not a single store rebuild.
We provide senior Latin American engineers who work on your team: same standups, same repos. For commerce, that usually means React and Next.js storefronts, Node.js or Python services, Shopify and payment APIs, search, and the integration code that keeps inventory honest. We're trusted by Fortune 500 engineering teams, and only the top 1% of the tens of thousands of engineers we interview make it. Our AI pod teams also build systems like product-data enrichment or customer-support agents in your cloud. See ecommerce software development, hire ecommerce developers and hire Shopify developers.
Where we're not the right fit: we're not a design and CRO agency, and we don't hold Shopify or Adobe partner tiers. If you want a store designed, built and marketed by one firm, pick Diff, We Make Websites or Scandiweb. If you need a strategy-led transformation, Publicis Sapient fits better. For nearshore options beyond commerce, see nearshore software development companies. We're the pick when your team owns the code and needs more senior engineers on US hours.
If you're on Shopify Plus, pick Diff. If you sell in many countries on Shopify, look hard at We Make Websites.
If you're on Adobe Commerce, pick Scandiweb. Its Magento coverage, from Hyvä to PIM, is the deepest here.
If you sell B2B through an ERP, pick Elogic Commerce.
If commerce is one piece of an enterprise-wide change, pick Publicis Sapient.
If you run a custom or headless stack with your own engineering team, that's where we fit. Our engineers join your sprint and ship on your roadmap. See also custom software development companies.
If your store runs on Shopify and most of your roadmap is storefront and apps, a Shopify agency is faster. If your roadmap is custom services, integrations and data, a general engineering team gives you more control.
Headless means your storefront (often Next.js) is separate from the commerce backend. It helps with speed and custom experiences, but you take on more engineering. Most brands under a few hundred SKUs don't need it.
None of the agencies here publish rates. For team-based work, cost is team size times months times monthly rate. Two senior engineers at $12,000 a month for four months is $96,000 at our rates.
Usually. B2B adds customer-specific pricing, quotes, approvals, credit terms and ERP sync. Pick a partner who has built those flows before.
We checked pricing and services for every provider here in October 2026. This changes often, so double-check before you sign anything.
