Ryz Labs vs HatchWorks AI

Both sell forward-deployed engineers and AI pods. Here's why teams that want senior engineers building AI in their own repos, at a price they can plan around, choose Ryz.

Full disclosure: we're Ryz Labs, and HatchWorks AI is a competitor. We think we're the better pick for most US engineering teams, and we explain why below. Every fact about HatchWorks comes from its own website or its Clutch listing, linked at the end.

The short answer

For most US engineering teams, Ryz Labs is the better choice. You get top 1% senior engineers who join your standups, your repos and your roadmap, working US business hours. When you need AI built, an AI pod team of senior engineers builds it in your cloud, alongside your people, and ships it to production. Before you start, you get a plan, a price and the names of the people who would do the work, and we can usually start in under two weeks once you say go.

HatchWorks AI is an Atlanta company, founded in 2016, that describes itself as a "pure-play AI and data transformation partner." It runs a three-stage method (strategy, build, adoption) and sells Forward Deployed Engineers, Agentic AI Pods and full transformation programs. It fits if you want one firm to own your AI strategy, change management and delivery together. If you want senior engineers working on your team and an AI pod that ships inside your own stack, pick Ryz.

Why Ryz is the better choice

Engineers who join your team, not a method you adopt. HatchWorks sells a branded path: GenROI to decide, GenDD to build, GenEQ to drive adoption. That suits a company that wants a partner to set its AI direction. Our model starts from your team. Our engineers work in your repos and CI, report to your leads and follow your process, so the code, the decisions and the context stay with your people from the first commit.

AI pod teams that build in your cloud. Our second business is dedicated pods of senior engineers that build AI systems in your AWS or Azure account, on your GitHub, with your data in Postgres and models from Anthropic and OpenAI. A typical pod is about 7 people, including a tech lead, an ML engineer and backend engineers. We don't sell a proprietary platform or methodology, so there is no lock-in. When the system is done, you can grow the pod or take the whole thing over. See how AI pod teams work.

Production proof. Our pods have shipped fraud detection for a global fleet company that has scored 244K+ invoices in under 30 seconds each, with $5.94M in fraud confirmed by the client's own fraud team. A marketing-compliance system for a leading alternative asset manager took review of 8,000+ documents from days to hours. An AI voice platform has made 1M+ outbound calls. See our case studies.

Top 1% vetting you can inspect. We've interviewed tens of thousands of engineers, and only the top 1% make it. Recruiters source, our in-house ARC system ranks the pipeline, and every candidate goes through a structured NTRVSTA AI interview, with recruiter review before and after. AI scores are advisory, people decide, and you run the final interview from a curated shortlist. Our vetting process page shows every step.

A price you can plan around. HatchWorks doesn't publish rate cards. We publish our ranges, and every quote names the engineers who would do the work.

How HatchWorks AI works

HatchWorks was founded in Atlanta in 2016 by Brandon Powell, expanded to Costa Rica in 2019 and opened offices in Bogota and Medellin in 2023. It says it pivoted the whole company around generative AI after November 2022 and calls itself a pure-play AI partner. Its method has three stages: GenROI (strategy and roadmap, which it says takes 4 to 8 weeks), GenDD (building, with a first production release it puts at 8 to 12 weeks) and GenEQ (adoption and change management). Engagements usually start with a Forward Deployed Engineer and scale to Agentic AI Pods or a full program. HatchWorks lists partnerships with Anthropic, OpenAI, Google Cloud and Databricks, says it holds a SOC 2 Type I attestation, and says clients own their IP.

Pricing

What HatchWorks AI costs per engineer vs Ryz

Here is every public price signal we found, checked October 2026. Most firms in this market don't publish a rate card, so we show the hourly band on their Clutch listing and convert it to a monthly figure for one full-time engineer.

ProviderPublishes prices?Public price signalPer engineer per month (160 hrs)
Ryz Labs (us)YesMid-level $7,000 to $10,000; senior $10,000 to $15,000; leads $15,000+, quoted per team$7,000 to $15,000
HatchWorks AINoClutch: $50 - $99/hr, $25,000+ minimum projectAbout $8,000 to $15,840

Monthly figures are our math at 160 hours a month. Directory bands are entered by the firms themselves and are not quotes, so ask each vendor for a written monthly price for the same roles at the same seniority.

HatchWorks says it scopes every engagement and does not publish rate cards. Its site describes four pricing shapes: a fixed-scope strategy engagement, a paid pilot, a dedicated team or engineer on a recurring cadence, and a multi-phase program with some fees tied to outcomes. Clutch lists HatchWorks at $50 to $99 an hour with a $25,000+ minimum project. Those are directory figures entered by the firm, not a quote.

Our pricing is per engineer. Typical cost is $7,000 to $15,000 per engineer per month. Mid-level engineers (comparable to Amazon L5) run $7,000 to $10,000 a month, senior engineers (comparable to Amazon L6) run $10,000 to $15,000, and leads are $15,000+ and quoted per team. A five-person senior pod is about $50,000 to $75,000 a month. You get a plan, a price and the names of the people before you start. Our AI engineer rates page breaks it down by role.

Questions

Are HatchWorks FDEs the same as Ryz AI pod teams?

They overlap. HatchWorks positions an FDE as a senior AI strategist and builder who finds use cases and ships them, and says it is "not staff augmentation." Our AI pod teams are dedicated senior engineers who build in your cloud and repos, report to your leads and demo weekly. If you want strategy and adoption bundled in, HatchWorks leans that way. If you want engineering capacity your team directs, we do.

Is HatchWorks AI cheaper than Ryz Labs?

We can't say, because HatchWorks doesn't publish rates. Ask both firms for a written monthly price for the same roles at the same seniority, and compare total cost for the same scope.

Do both use nearshore engineers?

Yes. HatchWorks pairs US strategists with engineers in Costa Rica, Colombia, Peru and Brazil. Every Ryz engineer works US business hours, so standups and code review happen the same day.

How do Ryz engineers work with our team?

Ryz engineers work on your team, reporting to your leads. Talk to us to scope your team.

Where Ryz fits

Ryz Labs is one more option to price alongside the firms on this page. We provide senior engineers and AI pod teams who work on your team and report to your leads. Here is how Ryz answers the questions buyers ask most.

QuestionRyz Labs
Price per engineer per month$7,000 to $15,000. Mid-level engineers run about $7,000 to $10,000 a month and senior engineers $10,000 to $15,000; leads are quoted per team.
