Heads up: we're Ryz Labs, so we have skin in this game. This is the case we make to buyers on calls. Facts about other providers come from their own published information, linked at the end.
Lemon.io and Toptal both match you with vetted individual freelancers from global pools, and you manage the work. The real difference is the pool and the pricing model: Lemon.io is developer-only, with no minimum hours, published developer rate data and a flat placement fee for direct hires; Toptal also covers designers, finance experts and product managers, charges a $79 monthly matching fee, and publishes a trial of up to two weeks.
For most US teams that want senior engineers inside their own team on US hours, or an AI pod team that ships to production, the better choice is Ryz Labs. You get top 1% senior Latin American engineers in your standups and repos from week one, and before you sign you see a scoped plan, a price, and the names of the people who would do the work.
Lemon.io started in 2015 and operates as Coding Ninjas Inc. d/b/a Lemon.io. It says it has 1,500+ vetted developers in 40+ countries. It says matching takes about 24 hours; you interview candidates and hire on contract, billed hourly through a prepaid subscription with "No minimum" hours, or as a direct hire after a 4-week trial (up to 160 hours) followed by a flat placement fee and a 60-day replacement guarantee. Its rate calculator publishes developer medians, such as $45/hr for seniors (Q3 2026), which Lemon.io notes are not client prices.
Toptal was founded in 2010 and runs as a fully remote, global network of freelancers covering developers, designers, finance experts, and product and project managers. It says it has served 35,000+ clients and that the average time to match is under 24 hours. Hourly rates aren't published; Toptal charges a $79 flat monthly matching subscription, bills twice a month, and offers a trial of up to two weeks. It says full-time conversion is possible "for the most part."
Senior engineers who become part of your team. Both networks match individuals you supervise. Our engineers join your standups, your repos and your roadmap from week one and work to your leads, so the code and the knowledge stay with your team. That matters when someone needs to own part of your system for the long run.
New York hours, every day. Every Ryz engineer is in Latin America and works within about one hour of US time zones, so standups, pairing and code review happen the same day. With a global pool, you check overlap person by person; with us it's built into the model.
Top 1% vetting with people in charge. We've interviewed tens of thousands of engineers, and only the top 1% make it. Recruiters source, our in-house ARC system ranks the pipeline, every candidate goes through a structured NTRVSTA AI interview, and recruiters review each one before and after. AI scores are advisory; people decide. You choose from a recruiter-curated shortlist and run the final interview yourself. See our vetting process.
AI pod teams that ship to production. When you need AI built, a dedicated pod (about 7 senior engineers, including a tech lead, an ML engineer and backend engineers) works inside your cloud, repos and CI, in AWS, Azure, GitHub, Postgres, and Anthropic and OpenAI models, with weekly demos. Our case studies include an AI voice platform with 1M+ outbound calls, an AI real-estate agent that runs 24/7, and fraud detection that has confirmed $5.94M in fraud across 244K+ invoices for a global fleet company.
A named team and one contract. Before you sign, you get a scoped plan, a price, and the names of the people who would do the work. You sign one contract with Ryz; our engineers work with us as independent contractors, and we handle paying them. Fortune 500 engineering teams trust us, across industries including financial services.
Neither publishes a client price. Lemon.io's developer medians ($45/hr senior) sit below the $100-$149/hr band Clutch lists for Toptal. See Lemon.io pricing and Toptal pricing. A Ryz quote comes with the names of your engineers.
Both draw from global pools, so overlap depends on the individual. Ryz engineers all work within about one hour of US time zones.
Both match individuals, and you assemble and manage them. For a dedicated team inside your stack, see Ryz Labs vs Lemon.io and Ryz Labs vs Toptal, or talk to us.
