Full disclosure: we're Ryz Labs, and we're on this list. So yes, we're biased. Here's what we'd actually tell a friend, including when you should hire someone else.
Private equity runs on a clock. An AI project that takes two quarters to staff and another two to ship eats a big share of the hold period. The question that decides it: can this partner put a team on a real system within weeks, at a cost you can model in the plan, and leave the code with the company at exit?
Operating partners don't buy AI as an end in itself. They buy a line in the value-creation plan: lower cost to serve, faster underwriting, fewer compliance hours, recovered revenue. That changes what matters. Time to a working system matters more than the size of the vendor. A price you can put in the model matters more than a rate card you'll see after a scoping phase.
Portfolio CTOs see it from the other side. Their teams are lean, their roadmaps are already full, and a new vendor platform is one more thing to support after the deal team moves on. They need engineers who join the team they have and build in the cloud and repos they already run.
Then there's the exit. Whoever buys the company will run technology diligence. A system the company owns, in its own repos, documented and run by its own team, is easier to explain than a dependency on a vendor's platform.
For how we approach the first two, see our private equity page.
We serve enterprises across industries, including financial services. Our AI pod teams are senior engineers you meet by name before the engagement starts. They work on the portfolio company's team, in its repos, cloud and standups, and report to its leads. One accountable team owns the build. There's no Ryz platform to adopt, the company owns all the code and IP, and when the work is done the pod can hand the whole system over. Only the top 1% of the tens of thousands of engineers we interview make it.
For a PE timeline, two things help. A pod can start in under two weeks once you say go. And the price is public, so you can model it before the first call: a pod of five senior engineers is about $50,000 to $75,000 a month, with a tech lead quoted per team. Our pods have shipped fraud detection for a global fleet company ($5.94M in confirmed fraud), marketing compliance review for a leading alternative asset manager (8,000+ documents, days to hours) and a driver-support agent covering about 218,000 calls a year at about 95% lower cost per call. See our case studies.
Where we're not the right fit: if you want commercial strategy, operating-model redesign or a board-level transformation program, a consultancy fits better. If portfolio companies need engineers in Europe or Asia time zones, look at a global network. If you want a proprietary AI platform across the portfolio, we don't sell one.
Accenture reported $74.2B in FY2026 revenue and about 814,000 people. Its Accenture Anthropic Business Group, formed in December 2025, plans to train about 30,000 professionals on Claude, including what it calls "reinvention deployed engineers."
Where it beats us: reach and breadth when the plan spans dozens of companies and regions. The catch: a program of that size needs active governance from your side. See our Accenture alternatives.
Deloitte sells agentic AI services in three phases: readiness, strategy and experimentation; design, build and deploy; and operate, monitor and improve. Zora AI, launched in March 2025, is a suite of ready-to-deploy agents for finance, procurement and other functions, offered as a cloud subscription.
Where it beats us: strategy, risk and transactions work alongside the build. One thing to check: Deloitte member firms are separate legal entities, and if one audits a portfolio company, SEC auditor-independence rules restrict some systems work for that company.
Thoughtworks is itself PE-owned: Apax Funds took it private in 2024. Its AI/works platform, launched in January 2026, ties to a delivery model it describes as a path "from idea to production in 90 days," and Agent/works governs agents in production.
Where it beats us: consulting-led modernization with its own platforms. The catch: both platforms are 2026 launches. See Thoughtworks alternatives.
EPAM reported $5.457B in FY2025 revenue. It sells AI/Run.Transform and the open-source DIAL platform alongside managed delivery teams.
Where it beats us: depth for many workstreams at once. The catch: overlap with US Eastern hours depends on where the team sits. See EPAM alternatives.
Tribe AI works in three phases, Map, Build and Activate, with forward-deployed engineers drawn from a network of senior practitioners. It published a case study for a global consulting firm that cut outside-in due diligence research from 7 to 10 days to under a day.
Where it beats us: strategy and adoption coverage. The catch: per TechCrunch, its talent works on contracted projects, which can affect continuity on long engagements.
Globant sells AI Pods, which it calls "human-supervised delivery units" of agents and experts, through Glob.AI. Software Pods are billed per supervised token for approved output.
Where it beats us: paying for output instead of people. The catch: agents do the work, and cost tracks volume. See Globant AI Pods vs Ryz AI pods.
If you want a working system in a portfolio company this year: Ryz Labs. A named team in under two weeks, a price you can model, and code the company owns at exit.
If you're running one transformation program across the whole portfolio: Accenture or Deloitte.
If the platform needs modernizing first: Thoughtworks or EPAM.
If you want strategy and adoption bundled with a scoped build: Tribe AI.
Usually both. The fund picks the plays and the partners. Each company's team should own its system, since they'll run it after you exit.
Yes, for document-heavy work. Ask any partner for shipped examples in production, not demos.
Price per team per company. Ours is $7,000 to $15,000 per engineer per month. See engineer rates by role.
Not to build in their own stack. Compare approaches in our enterprise AI development companies guide and Globant alternatives.
Ask for proof in regulated work. See our page on financial services AI engineering.
We checked pricing and services for every provider here in October 2026. This changes often, so double-check before you sign anything.
