We'll say this up front: Ryz Labs wrote this page, and we're one of the companies on it. When another option is the better call, we say so plainly.
For a New York company, the deciding question is: will these engineers be online, in your standup, and reviewing code while Manhattan is at work? Every partner below hires in Latin America, so all of them are closer than offshore. The real differences are how embedded the engineers are, how big the bench is, and what you pay to get started.
New York runs on Eastern time, and so do your customers, your markets, and your on-call rotation. If a release breaks at 3pm, you need someone who can fix it at 3pm, not tomorrow morning. That's why most New York teams look to Latin America instead of Asia or Eastern Europe. Colombia, Peru, and much of Mexico sit at or near Eastern time. Argentina and Brazil are an hour or two ahead.
The second thing that matters is how embedded the engineers are. A contractor who picks up tickets is different from an engineer who sits in your standup, owns a service, and joins your on-call. New York teams with high bars on code quality usually want the second kind.
Third, speed. A New York startup with a launch date can't wait two months. An enterprise with a procurement process often cares more about getting the right person than getting someone this week.
We place senior Latin American engineers inside your team. Same standups, same repos, same roadmap from week one. Our engineers work New York hours, so code review happens the same day. Recruiters source candidates, our in-house ARC system ranks the pipeline, and candidates go through structured NTRVSTA AI interviews with recruiter review before and after. You get a curated shortlist and you run the final interview. Only the top 1% make it, out of tens of thousands of engineers we've interviewed.
Why we put ourselves first here: the whole model is built around New York hours and engineers who become part of your team, not a ticket queue. We're trusted by Fortune 500 engineering teams, and we bring decades of LatAm expertise to matching people with the right team. We also offer direct-hire placement if you'd rather hire someone outright. You run the interview. You keep the person.
Where we're not the right fit: if you need 50 engineers next month, BairesDev's bench is far larger than ours. If you want to see prices on a website before you talk to anyone, we don't publish them, and Howdy and South are more transparent up front. And if you want an hourly freelancer for a short gig, a marketplace like Toptal is a better tool. See Ryz Labs vs Toptal.
BairesDev says it has 4,000+ engineers across 100+ technologies, and that its engineers "work your hours" with "full overlap with your team's schedule." It offers staff augmentation, dedicated teams, and outsourcing. Clutch shows 4.9/5 from 63 reviews.
Why it fits: the biggest LatAm bench on this list. If you need several squads, BairesDev can staff them. The catch: some Clutch reviewers mention rate increases and early developer churn, and pricing isn't public. Our head-to-head is at Ryz Labs vs BairesDev.
Revelo says its engineers "work within 2 hours of US Eastern time" and that it has 400K+ vetted developers. It handles payroll, benefits, and compliance in 18 countries, bills month to month, and advertises a 14-day risk-free trial. It says shortlists arrive in 48 to 72 hours.
Why it fits: a published trial and no upfront contract make it an easy first step. The catch: Revelo works more like a platform. You manage the engineers day to day. More in Ryz Labs vs Revelo.
Howdy is based in Austin and employs Latin American engineers through EOR. They work as dedicated members of your team, out of "Howdy Houses" offices in LatAm cities. Howdy publishes its fee model: 85% to the engineer and 15% to Howdy. It claims 98% retention through two years.
Why it fits: the fee transparency is rare, and the focus on retention suits teams building for the long haul. The catch: Howdy says a full recruiting cycle takes four to six weeks, and there's little independent review evidence (0 reviews on Clutch). See Ryz Labs vs Howdy.
Tecla offers LatAm staff augmentation or direct hire across 18+ countries. They say "Fewer than 1% accepted."
Why it fits: flexibility in how you engage. If you're not sure yet whether you want a contractor or an employee, Tecla lets you pick either. The catch: we found less public detail on its overlap and pricing, so ask for both in writing.
South highlights Colombia as a time-zone match for Eastern time and claims an average time to hire of about 16 days. They say you pay nothing until you hire.
Why it fits: low upfront commitment and a sensible time-zone pitch for New York. The catch: the model is focused on making the hire. Onboarding and managing the engineer is on you.
For most New York companies, our pick is Ryz Labs. Our engineers work within an hour of US time zones, so they are in your morning standup and reviewing pull requests the same afternoon. They are senior, they work in your repos from week one, and only the top 1% make it through our recruiter and AI-assisted screening. You run the final interview, and you can add data, product, and design people as you grow. If you later need to build AI systems, our AI pod teams can do that too.
If you're an enterprise staffing a big program, BairesDev has the scale. Ask about continuity and rate changes before you sign.
If you want to try before you commit, Revelo's 14-day trial is the clearest published offer here. If your worry is offshore time-zone gaps, see nearshore alternatives to offshore teams.
If fee transparency matters most, Howdy publishes its markup. That's worth a lot when your CFO asks.
Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, and much of Mexico are at or near Eastern time for most of the year. Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, and Brazil are usually one to two hours ahead, which still works for a New York workday.
Usually, yes. Revelo and BairesDev both claim 30 to 50% savings over US hires. Those are their claims, so build your own comparison against a fully loaded New York salary.
It varies. Revelo says most developers are shipping within 14 days. Howdy says a full cycle is four to six weeks. South claims about 16 days on average. Ask for each vendor's real numbers for your stack.
Most of these models are remote. If you need someone on-site, a direct hire is usually the cleaner route. We offer direct-hire placement for remote or on-site roles.
