Ryz Labs vs Athyna

Athyna matches companies with global talent and AI-training experts. Here's why engineering teams that want senior engineers and AI pods that ship choose Ryz.

Full disclosure: we're Ryz Labs, and we compete with Athyna when the role is a software engineer. So yes, we're biased. Here's what we'd tell a friend, including the cases where Athyna is the right call. Facts about Athyna come from its own site.

The short answer

For engineering teams, Ryz Labs is the better choice for most US companies. You get top 1% senior Latin American engineers who work on your team on US business hours, and AI pod teams that build AI systems in your cloud and ship them to production. You see a plan, a price and the names of the people before you start. Fortune 500 engineering teams trust us for this.

Athyna is a fully remote global hiring platform that uses AI matching to place talent across marketing, design, operations, tech and finance, usually in five days or less. Its newer arm, Athyna Intelligence, supplies Latin American PhDs and domain experts for AI training work such as evals, red-teaming and RLHF. It fits if you're hiring across many functions or training a model. For senior engineers and AI systems that ship, pick Ryz.

Why Ryz is the better choice

We build AI systems; Athyna Intelligence helps train models. These are different jobs. If you're an AI lab that needs PhDs to write evals or score model outputs, Athyna Intelligence is designed for that. If you're a company that needs an AI system built and running in production (a fraud model, a compliance review system, a voice agent), you need engineers who ship software. Our AI pod teams do exactly that, in your AWS or Azure account, on your GitHub, with Anthropic and OpenAI models.

Proof it ships. Our pods built fraud detection for a global fleet company that has scored 244K+ invoices in under 30 seconds each, with $5.94M in fraud confirmed by the client's fraud team. An AI voice platform has made 1M+ outbound calls. An AI real-estate agent runs 24/7. Read the case studies.

Engineering-first vetting. Athyna matches across a dozen job families with an algorithm. We vet engineers with a process built for them: recruiters source, our in-house ARC system ranks the pipeline, every candidate takes a structured NTRVSTA AI interview, and recruiters review each candidate before and after. AI scores are advisory; people decide. Only the top 1% make it. See the vetting process.

One region, US hours. Athyna's network runs from Latin America to Africa and Asia. All of our engineers are in Latin America and work on US business hours, including New York hours, so standups and same-day code review are normal, not lucky.

Senior people at a price you can see. Our engineers are mostly mid-level to senior, comparable to Amazon L5 and L6, and our ranges are published.

How Athyna works

You tell Athyna what you're hiring for. Its AI platform matches the role against a curated global pool, its team screens candidates, and you interview a short list, usually within five days. Athyna handles onboarding, compliance and ongoing support. It describes itself as a platform, "not an agency," serving companies from startups to the Fortune 100. Athyna Intelligence is a separate arm for AI labs and research teams: Latin American PhDs and domain experts for data creation, annotation, model evaluation and reasoning benchmarks, plus ready-made training datasets.

When Athyna might make sense

Pricing

Athyna doesn't publish a rate card. Its FAQ says you only pay for the talent you hire, priced by role, experience and team size. Its homepage shows sample profiles with hourly rates, such as a full-stack developer in Lima at $40 an hour and a senior back-end developer in Buenos Aires at $45 an hour. Treat those as examples, not quotes.

Typical Ryz cost is $7,000-$15,000 per engineer per month, mostly mid-level to senior. Mid-level (comparable to Amazon L5 / SDE II) is $7,000-$10,000. Senior (comparable to Amazon L6) is $10,000-$15,000. Leads are $15,000+, quoted per team. An AI pod is priced the same way: team size × duration × monthly rate. You get a plan, a price and the names of the people before you start.
