Ryz Labs vs Unosquare

Both run Latin American engineering teams for US companies. Here's how a per-engineer team on your roadmap compares with Unosquare's fixed-budget delivery tiers.

Heads up: we're Ryz Labs, and Unosquare competes with us for the same buyers. This is the case we make on calls, including where Unosquare fits better. Facts about Unosquare come from its own site and Clutch, listed at the end.

The short answer

For most US engineering teams that want senior people working on their own roadmap, Ryz Labs is the better choice. You get top 1% senior engineers on your team, in your standups and repos on US business hours, and AI pod teams that build in your cloud and ship to production. You see a plan, a price and the names of the people before you start. Fortune 500 engineering teams trust us for exactly this.

Unosquare is a Portland-headquartered digital engineering firm founded in 2009, with delivery hubs in Mexico, Colombia, Bolivia and other Latin American countries plus Belfast. It says it has over 1,000 delivery professionals and publishes project budget bands, from about $50K for an MVP to $1M+ for enterprise builds. Choose Unosquare if you want a vendor to own a scoped project or run 24/7 managed operations. Choose Ryz if you want senior engineers and AI pods working on your team.

Why Ryz is the better choice for most teams

Senior people on your roadmap, not a separate project. Unosquare's pricing is built around projects: an MVP over two to four months, a Scale build over three to six, an Enterprise build over four to twelve. That works when the scope is fixed. Most software isn't. Ryz engineers work on your team and take on your backlog as it changes, in your repos, your CI and your standups, reporting to your leads. You don't renegotiate a statement of work every time priorities move.

AI pods with production results. Unosquare lists AI systems as a focus area. Our AI pod teams have shipped. An AI voice platform has made 1M+ outbound calls. A fraud detection system for a global fleet company has surfaced $5.94M in fraud, confirmed by the client's fraud team. An AI real-estate agent runs 24/7. A pod for a global capital management firm grew from zero to three engineers and built a compliance review system that handles 8,000+ marketing documents a year. See our case studies.

A vetting bar you can read. Unosquare says every engineer clears four checks, and its line "We don't hire juniors to bill seniors" is a fair promise. Ours goes further: only the top 1% of the tens of thousands of engineers we've interviewed make it. Recruiters source, our ARC system ranks, NTRVSTA runs structured AI interviews, and recruiters review each candidate before and after. People make the decisions. See our vetting process.

New York hours, by default. Unosquare's hubs span every US time zone, which is useful for West Coast teams. Ryz engineers work US business hours, including New York hours, so an East Coast team gets same-day code review without picking a hub.

Pricing

Unosquare is one of the few firms in this market that publishes project bands: roughly $50K-$150K for an MVP, $100K-$600K for a Scale build and $300K-$1M+ for an Enterprise build. Clutch lists $50-$99 an hour and a $250,000+ minimum project. Ask which tier your scope falls into and what happens when it changes.

We price per engineer, and publish it. Typical Ryz cost is $7,000-$15,000 per engineer per month, mostly mid-level to senior. Mid-level (comparable to Amazon L5 / SDE II) is $7,000-$10,000 a month. Senior (comparable to Amazon L6) is $10,000-$15,000. Leads are $15,000+ and quoted per team. Project cost is team size × duration × monthly rate: three senior engineers for four months is 3 × $10,000-$15,000 × 4, or $120,000-$180,000. You get a plan, a price and the names of the people first. See our cost to hire a software developer guide for context.

Questions

Does Unosquare offer staff augmentation?

Yes. It calls it Burst Capacity, one of four engagement models. Ryz staff augmentation puts senior engineers on your team, and our AI pod teams cover full AI builds.

Does Unosquare's project pricing cost less than Ryz?

It depends on scope and duration. Convert both to the same unit: a $150K MVP over three months is about $50K a month. Ask how many engineers that buys, and at what seniority, then compare with our $10,000-$15,000 per senior engineer per month.

Where are Unosquare's engineers?

Mostly Mexico, Colombia and Bolivia, with other Latin American hubs and a team in Belfast. Ryz engineers are in Latin America and work US business hours, including New York hours.

How do Ryz engineers work with our team?

Ryz engineers work on your team, reporting to your leads. Talk to us to scope your team.
