Heads up: we're Ryz Labs, so we have skin in this game. This is the case we make to buyers on calls. Facts about other providers come from their own published information, linked at the end.
Toptal and Turing no longer sell the same thing. Toptal is a vetted freelance network: you hire individual developers, designers or other specialists, hourly, part-time or full-time, and direct their work. Turing now describes itself as helping "frontier labs improve models and enterprises deploy agentic systems," and its enterprise offers are advisory, talent embedding and AI build work, staffed from a global network.
For most US teams that want senior engineers inside their own team on US hours, or an AI pod team that builds inside their own cloud and ships to production, the better choice is Ryz Labs. You see a scoped plan, a price and the names of the people before you sign.
Toptal, founded in 2010, is a fully remote network of vetted freelancers, including developers, designers, finance experts, and product and project managers. It says it has served 35,000+ clients in 140+ countries and that average time to match is under 24 hours. Rates are per freelancer and not published. Toptal lists a $79 monthly matching subscription, a $0 recruiting fee and a trial of up to two weeks. The client directs each freelancer's work.
Turing was founded in 2018 and is based in San Francisco. Its core business supplies training data, evaluations and RL environments to frontier AI labs. It raised a $111M Series E at a $2.2B valuation in March 2025. For enterprises, it sells "Turing Intelligence" in three forms (Advise, Augment for talent embedding, and Build for production systems and agentic workflows), along with Turing pods and forward-deployed AI engineers. Turing says it can draw on 4M+ engineers and experts. Pricing is not published.
Senior engineers who become part of your team. Our engineers join your standups, your repos and your roadmap from week one, and they work to your leads. Engineering teams are our whole business. Fortune 500 engineering teams trust us for exactly this, across industries including financial services.
AI pod teams built for your production system. Our pods are dedicated teams of senior engineers (typically about 7, including a tech lead, an ML engineer and backend engineers) that work inside your cloud, repos and CI, with weekly demos, in AWS, Azure, GitHub, Postgres, and Anthropic and OpenAI models. The process is Talk, Match, Embed, Grow, and when the system is done you can add people or have the whole system handed over to your team. The work is in production: fraud detection for a global fleet company has scored 244K+ invoices in under 30 seconds each, with $5.94M in fraud confirmed by the client's fraud team, and a marketing-compliance system for a global capital management firm took review of 8,000+ documents from days to hours. See our case studies.
New York hours, every day. Our engineers work within one hour of US time zones, so standups, pairing, code review and demos happen the same day. With a global network, overlap depends on who is staffed.
Top 1% vetting you can see. Only the top 1% make it, out of tens of thousands of engineers interviewed. Recruiters source, our in-house ARC system ranks, every candidate takes a structured NTRVSTA AI interview, and recruiters review before and after. AI scores are advisory; people decide. Our recruiting AI is governed under EU AI Act high-risk requirements, and we follow GDPR and CCPA/CPRA. See our vetting process.
One contract, named people. You sign one contract with Ryz. Our engineers work with us as independent contractors, and we handle paying them. Before you sign, you get a scoped plan, a price and the names of the people who would do the work.

Turing's site now leads with AI labs and enterprise agentic systems, and its talent embedding sits under "Augment." Ask Turing directly what an individual-developer engagement looks like today. If you want senior engineers inside your team on US hours, Ryz Labs does exactly that. More in Turing pricing.
Neither publishes rates. Toptal adds a $79 monthly subscription and Clutch lists it at $100-$149/hr. Turing quotes per engagement. Ryz gives you a scoped plan, a price and the names of your engineers before you sign. See Toptal pricing.
If you want a team inside your own stack, on US hours, shipping a production system with weekly demos, Ryz Labs' AI pod teams are built for that. Our systems in production include an AI voice platform with 1M+ outbound calls and an AI real-estate agent that works 24/7. Talk to us.
