Software development and AI pod teams for manufacturing
Senior engineering teams that connect MES, ERP, PLM and plant-floor data, and AI pods that ship predictive maintenance, visual inspection and quality analytics.
By the Ryz Labs team · Updated October 2026
Ryz staffs senior Latin American engineering teams for manufacturers: MES and ERP integrations, IIoT data platforms built on OPC UA and MQTT, PLM and quality systems, and the dealer, supplier and customer portals around them. Our AI pod teams build predictive maintenance, visual inspection and quality analytics in your cloud and ship them to production on real lines. Teams work on US business hours, so they overlap with plant engineers and IT on the same shift.
Manufacturing software lives where IT meets OT. Plant networks are segmented for good reason, PLCs run for twenty years, and every plant has its own historian tags and naming habits. Trusted by Fortune 500 engineering teams, Ryz brings engineers from the top 1% of the tens of thousands we interview, and they work on your team, in your repos and alongside your controls engineers.
What we build for manufacturing teams
- IIoT data platforms. OPC UA and MQTT Sparkplug B data from PLCs and edge gateways into a unified namespace, then into AWS IoT SiteWise, Azure IoT Operations or a lakehouse, with consistent tags across plants.
- MES integrations and extensions. Work order, genealogy and production reporting integrations with Siemens Opcenter, Rockwell Plex or FactoryTalk, AVEVA and Critical Manufacturing, following ISA-95 levels.
- ERP connections. SAP S/4HANA, Oracle Cloud ERP, Microsoft Dynamics 365, Epicor and Infor integrations for BOMs, routings, inventory and production orders, so the plant and finance see the same numbers.
- PLM and engineering data. Siemens Teamcenter, PTC Windchill and Dassault 3DEXPERIENCE integrations, engineering change workflows and BOM synchronization from engineering to manufacturing.
- Quality systems. SPC dashboards, nonconformance and CAPA workflows, supplier quality portals and traceability from raw material lot to serial number.
- OEE and operations dashboards. Availability, performance and quality metrics computed from machine states, with downtime reason codes operators actually fill in.
- Connected product platforms. Telemetry, remote diagnostics and over-the-air updates for equipment you sell, plus service portals for dealers and field technicians.
- Supplier and dealer portals. Forecast sharing, ASN and EDI integrations, warranty claims and parts catalogs.
Where AI pods help in manufacturing
Factory AI succeeds when it fits how operators already work and fails when it lives in a separate dashboard nobody opens. Our AI pod teams build into existing MES screens, CMMS work orders and shift handoffs.
- Predictive maintenance. Models on vibration, temperature, current and cycle data that predict failures on critical assets and open work orders in Maximo, SAP PM or Fiix. The hard parts are scarce failure labels, sensor drift and proving value against your existing preventive schedule.
- Visual inspection. Computer vision models that detect surface defects, missing components and assembly errors at line speed on edge hardware such as NVIDIA Jetson. Lighting, camera placement and the cost of a missed defect drive the design more than model choice.
- Quality root-cause analysis. Joining process parameters, material lots and test results to find which variables drive scrap and rework, with results engineers can check.
- Technician and operator assistants. Retrieval over manuals, work instructions and past maintenance notes so a technician can ask "why does station 4 fault on E-217?" and get an answer with the source page.
- Document intake. Extracting data from supplier certificates of conformance, material test reports and quality documents into structured records. Confidence thresholds and a reviewer queue keep bad extractions out of your quality records. Our pods have shipped document-review systems to production in other industries; see the case studies.
Regulations and constraints our engineers work within
- FDA 21 CFR Part 11 and Part 820. For medical device makers, electronic records and signatures, and the Quality Management System Regulation that aligns Part 820 with ISO 13485. Software in production and quality systems needs validation evidence.
- Defense supply chain cybersecurity. DFARS 252.204-7012, NIST SP 800-171 and CMMC requirements for contractors handling Controlled Unclassified Information.
- Export controls. ITAR and EAR restrict who may access controlled technical data. Systems holding that data need access controls designed with your export compliance team.
- OT security. IEC 62443 and the NIST Cybersecurity Framework for industrial control system networks and remote access.
- Quality standards. ISO 9001, IATF 16949 for automotive and AS9100 for aerospace, which shape traceability and document control in software.
- Traceability rules. The FDA's FSMA Section 204 food traceability rule for food manufacturers, and product passport requirements emerging in the EU.
Our engineers have experience working within these requirements under your quality and security programs. Ryz does not claim ISO, CMMC or other certifications for its teams.
Integrations and data
- Plant floor: Rockwell, Siemens and Schneider PLCs through OPC UA, Kepware or Ignition gateways, and MQTT brokers.
- Historians: AVEVA PI, Canary and cloud time-series stores.
- Maintenance: IBM Maximo, SAP PM, Fiix and UpKeep.
- Enterprise: SAP, Oracle, Dynamics 365, Teamcenter and Windchill.
- Data platforms: Databricks, Snowflake or Microsoft Fabric with dbt, built by our data engineering teams.
How teams engage Ryz
- Staff augmentation. Add senior data, backend or embedded software engineers to your digital manufacturing team. See hire embedded software engineers.
- Dedicated development team. A Ryz team owns a scoped system, such as a multi-plant IIoT data platform or an MES-to-ERP integration layer.
- AI pod. A pod of senior engineers, including a tech lead and an ML engineer, builds predictive maintenance or inspection models for a pilot line, then rolls them out across plants.
The steps are Talk, Match, Join and Grow. Typical cost is $7,000–$15,000 per engineer per month: mid-level $7,000–$10,000, senior $10,000–$15,000, leads $15,000+. Five senior engineers at $12,000 a month for six months is $360,000. You get a plan, a price and the names of the people before you start.
When Ryz isn't the right fit
- The work requires ITAR-controlled technical data that only US persons may access. Our engineers are based in Latin America, so that work belongs with a US-person team.
- You need PLC programmers or controls engineers on site to commission equipment.
- You want a management consultancy for a lean or Industry 4.0 strategy program, or a packaged MES product configured rather than software built.

FAQ
Can your engineers connect to plant-floor systems remotely?
Through the paths your OT security team approves. The usual pattern is edge gateways that publish OPC UA or MQTT data out of the plant network to the cloud, so our engineers work on the cloud side without direct access to control networks.
How do your engineers handle regulated and controlled data?
They work in your environment, under your access controls, validation procedures and logging, and data stays in your accounts. Ryz does not claim ISO, CMMC or FDA-related certifications; our engineers have experience working within Part 11, NIST SP 800-171 and quality system requirements as your programs define them.
How long before predictive maintenance shows results?
It depends on how much failure history and sensor data you already have, so we don't promise a timeline. Our pods start with a data assessment on a few critical assets and agree on a measurable target before building.
What does a manufacturing software team cost?
Typical rates are $7,000–$15,000 per engineer per month by seniority. Cost is team size times months times rate; three senior engineers at $11,000 for five months is $165,000.
Do you build software for the products we sell, not just our plants?
Yes. Our teams build connected product platforms, mobile apps, dealer portals and service tools as well as plant data and MES integrations.
