Hire senior Terraform engineers for infrastructure you can review
Senior Terraform engineers who write reusable modules, manage state safely and put infrastructure changes through review, embedded in your team on US hours.

Hiring Terraform engineers through Ryz gets you senior Latin American engineers who turn click-ops and fragile scripts into infrastructure code your team can read, review and change safely. They are top 1% of the candidates we interview, they embed in your platform team and repos, and they work within an hour of US time zones.
What our Terraform engineers work on
Our Terraform engineers write and maintain infrastructure as code across AWS, Azure, GCP and SaaS providers such as Datadog, Cloudflare, GitHub and Snowflake. They work with Terraform and OpenTofu, Terragrunt where it helps, and run plans through Atlantis, Spacelift, HCP Terraform or GitHub Actions. Typical projects:
- Importing existing cloud resources into code with import blocks, then cleaning up drift without downtime.
- Internal module libraries for networks, clusters, databases and IAM, versioned and documented for product teams.
- Splitting a single giant state file into smaller stacks with clear boundaries and safe cross-stack references.
- Multi-account and multi-subscription landing zones with consistent tagging, logging and guardrails.
- Plan-and-apply pipelines with pull request reviews, cost estimates from Infracost and policy checks.
- Policy as code with OPA, Conftest, Sentinel or Checkov to catch public buckets and open security groups before apply.
Skills we vet for
- State management. Remote backends, state locking, workspaces versus separate directories, and recovering a corrupted or out-of-sync state.
- Refactoring safely. moved and removed blocks, terraform state mv, and changing resource addresses without destroying anything.
- Module design. Small, composable modules with clear inputs and outputs, sensible defaults, validation rules and semantic versioning.
- HCL fluency. for_each versus count, dynamic blocks, locals, conditional expressions and avoiding unknown-value errors at plan time.
- Provider knowledge. Deep familiarity with at least one major cloud's resources, plus version pinning and lock files.
- Pipelines and review. Plan output in pull requests, targeted applies only as an exception, and approval gates for production.
- Security. Keeping secrets out of state, OIDC-based credentials for CI, least-privilege roles for the pipeline itself.
- Drift and lifecycle. Detecting drift, lifecycle rules like prevent_destroy and create_before_destroy, and when ignore_changes is a smell.
How we vet Terraform engineers
Our recruiters look for engineers who have refactored real infrastructure under load, not just written greenfield modules. Our in-house ARC system ranks the pipeline, and candidates complete structured NTRVSTA AI interviews built on plan output and refactoring scenarios. Recruiters review every candidate before and after, then send a curated shortlist. AI scores are advisory, and humans make the decisions.
Sample interview topics
- A plan shows a production database will be destroyed and recreated after a small module change. How do you find out why and stop it?
- You inherit one state file with 2,000 resources across every environment. How do you split it without downtime?
- Two engineers applied changes to the same stack at once and state is now inconsistent. Walk through the recovery.
- Design a module for a VPC or VNet that three teams will consume with different needs. What do you expose and what do you hide?
- How do you give a CI pipeline permission to apply changes without long-lived cloud keys?
Ways to hire Terraform engineers
| Option | Best for | Trade-offs |
|---|
| Freelance marketplace | One module or a small import job | Infrastructure code needs an owner. Handoffs from short gigs often leave state and module design hard to maintain. |
| Staffing or recruiting agency | Roles with a fixed cloud and certification list | Certifications do not show how someone handles a risky plan in production. |
| In-house recruiting | A permanent platform or cloud team | Slow to staff, and hard to judge module design without a senior infrastructure engineer interviewing. |
| Ryz Labs staff augmentation | Adding senior Terraform engineers to your platform or DevOps team | You set conventions and approval rules. Best with clear ownership of accounts and environments. |
| Ryz Labs dedicated team | A landing zone build or a large infrastructure migration | A dedicated team of cloud and platform engineers. Scoped as a team with a plan up front. |
If you want follow-the-sun infrastructure coverage from Europe and Asia, or a management consultancy to run a cloud strategy program without hands-on engineers, Ryz is not the right fit.
Why hire Terraform engineers from Latin America
Infrastructure changes go through review, and review is faster when the reviewer is awake. A Terraform engineer on your hours can post a plan, walk your team through it in a call and apply in a maintenance window you all attend, instead of leaving a risky change to sit overnight.
Senior cloud engineers in the region have built and refactored infrastructure for global SaaS, payments and logistics companies across AWS and Azure. They write readable module docs and pull request descriptions in English, which matters when infrastructure is reviewed by many teams.

FAQ
Do your engineers work with OpenTofu as well as Terraform?
Yes. OpenTofu is close to Terraform in syntax and workflow, and many of our engineers have used both. We can also help you weigh the trade-offs if you are deciding between them.
Can they bring our existing manual infrastructure under code?
Yes. Importing existing resources, then reconciling drift, is one of the most common starting projects. It is done in stages so nothing gets recreated by accident.
What does a Terraform engineer cost?
Custom quote, scoped per team. Before you sign, you get a scoped plan, a price and the names of the engineers.
How does contracting work, and what hours do they keep?
You sign one contract with Ryz. Our engineers work with us as independent contractors, and we handle paying them. They work within an hour of US time zones, so infrastructure reviews happen the same day.
Do they also handle Pulumi or CloudFormation?
Some do. Terraform is the most common request, but if your stack uses Pulumi, CloudFormation, CDK or Bicep, we will match engineers with that experience.
