Definition: An AI pod is a dedicated, cross-functional team of senior engineers that designs, builds and ships an AI system as one unit, working in the client's cloud and repositories.
A pod usually combines a tech lead, machine learning or LLM engineers, backend engineers and data engineers. Because the pod already works as one team, it can own a whole problem: data pipelines, model integration, retrieval, evaluation, application code and deployment.
The pod joins the client's workflows: their repositories, CI, standups and regular demos. As the system matures, the client can add people or disciplines, or take over the system entirely.
An AI pod fits when a company has a defined AI use case, such as a support agent, document processing or fraud detection, but lacks enough senior AI engineers to staff it. It differs from hiring individuals one by one because the team arrives with the roles needed to ship end to end.
Ryz AI pods are typically about seven senior engineers, including a tech lead, an ML engineer and backend engineers, working as one team on your team and in your time zone.
