Angular developer job description template (2026)
A copy-ready Angular developer job description for teams on modern Angular or migrating to it, with seniority levels, writing tips and FAQs.
By the Ryz Labs team · Updated October 2026
An Angular developer job description should say which generation of Angular the person will work in. Modern Angular, with standalone components, signals, the new control flow syntax and zoneless change detection, is a different daily experience from an Angular 8 app built on NgModules and heavy RxJS, and both are different again from a legacy AngularJS 1.x codebase. Angular is common in large enterprise applications with long lifespans, so most senior Angular roles involve some migration work. The template below targets a senior Angular developer building features in a large enterprise app while moving it toward modern Angular patterns.

Job title
Senior Angular Developer (Enterprise Web Applications)
Employment type: full-time or contract. Location: remote, with at least four hours of overlap with US Eastern time.
About the role
We are looking for a senior Angular developer to build and modernize [product name], a large web application used by [customers / internal teams] to [main job]. The app is on Angular [version] with [NgRx / signal-based services] for state, and we are moving from NgModules to standalone components and from Zone.js-driven change detection toward signals. You will ship features, guide that migration and help other engineers write maintainable Angular. You will join a team of [number] engineers and report to [title].
Responsibilities
- Build features with standalone components, typed reactive forms and the built-in control flow syntax.
- Use signals, computed values and effects for local and shared state, and decide where RxJS still fits better, such as for streams of events.
- Write RxJS that does not leak: correct use of switchMap versus mergeMap, takeUntilDestroyed and the async pipe.
- Plan and carry out incremental migrations: NgModules to standalone, class-based guards to functional guards, and ng update across major versions.
- Improve change detection performance with OnPush, signals and a path toward zoneless change detection.
- Maintain and extend our state layer in [NgRx Store / NgRx SignalStore], including effects and selectors.
- Build and reuse components with Angular Material or the Angular CDK, meeting our accessibility standards.
- Configure lazy-loaded routes, deferrable views and bundle budgets to keep load times down as the app grows.
- Write unit tests and component tests with [Jest / Vitest / Karma], and end-to-end tests with [Playwright / Cypress].
- Review pull requests and help engineers who are new to Angular understand dependency injection, lifecycle hooks and RxJS.
Requirements
- 5+ years of front-end development, with at least 3 years building production Angular applications (Angular 2+).
- Strong command of components, services, dependency injection, routing and the Angular CLI.
- Hands-on experience with signals and standalone components in a real codebase.
- Solid RxJS skills, including higher-order mapping operators, error handling and subscription management.
- Experience with typed reactive forms, custom validators and complex form flows.
- Understanding of Angular change detection, OnPush and how Zone.js triggers updates.
- Strong TypeScript skills and solid HTML, SCSS and accessibility fundamentals.
- Experience upgrading an Angular app across at least two major versions.
- Clear written English for pull requests, design notes and async communication.
Nice to have
- Experience migrating an AngularJS 1.x application to modern Angular.
- Nx monorepos with several Angular applications and shared libraries.
- Server-side rendering and hydration with Angular SSR.
- Module federation or other micro-frontend approaches.
- Building a shared component library on top of the Angular CDK.
- Experience with NgRx SignalStore or migrating from classic NgRx Store.
Tech stack
Angular 20, TypeScript, RxJS 7, NgRx (Store and SignalStore), Angular Material and CDK, SCSS, Nx, Jest, Playwright, ESLint with angular-eslint, Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions, .NET or Java APIs. Replace this list with your real stack; candidates read it closely.
What success looks like in 6 months
- You have shipped features in at least two areas of the app and own one feature module.
- A meaningful part of the codebase has moved to standalone components and signals, with a clear plan for the rest.
- We have completed at least one major Angular version upgrade with no production regressions.
- Subscription leaks and slow change detection on a known heavy screen have been fixed and documented.
How to apply and interview process
Send your resume or LinkedIn profile and a short note about an Angular application you built or modernized. Our process has four steps: a 30-minute intro call, a technical conversation about an Angular codebase you have worked on, a practical exercise or pairing session on a realistic component with forms and data, and a final conversation with the team you would join. We aim to give feedback within a few days of each step.
Junior vs mid vs senior Angular developer
Angular has a steeper learning curve than most front-end frameworks, and its enterprise apps tend to be large. Level the role by how much of that complexity the person can own.
| Level | Scope | Typical experience | Key skills |
|---|
| Junior | Components and bug fixes inside an existing feature, with review | 0-2 years | Templates and bindings, basic services, the Angular CLI, simple forms, reading RxJS code |
| Mid-level | Full features, including routing, forms, state and API integration | 2-5 years | Dependency injection, RxJS operators, reactive forms, OnPush, NgRx or signal-based state, testing |
| Senior | App architecture, version upgrades, migration strategy and performance | 5+ years | Signals versus RxJS trade-offs, change detection internals, large-scale refactoring, Nx structure, mentoring |
Tips for writing an Angular developer job description that attracts senior talent
- Give your exact Angular version. Senior Angular developers immediately read the version as a signal of how much legacy work is involved. Being clear prevents mismatched expectations.
- Separate AngularJS from Angular. If the job involves AngularJS 1.x, say so in plain words. Many candidates will be glad to lead that migration, but none want to discover it after joining.
- Describe your signals and RxJS stance. Teams handle this transition very differently. Saying where you are and where you want to go invites candidates who can help.
- Mention the back end and domain. Angular is often paired with .NET or Java APIs in regulated, data-heavy products. Naming that context attracts developers who have worked in similar environments.
- Say how big the app is. A rough sense of scale, such as the number of feature modules or teams contributing, tells senior candidates what architecture problems they will face.
- Do not ask for React and Vue too. Angular is opinionated enough that strong Angular developers often specialize. Require Angular and treat other frameworks as a plus.
- Mention upgrade cadence. Saying you upgrade with each major release, or that you are several versions behind, helps candidates judge the work honestly.
Skip the job post: hire a vetted senior Angular developer
A job post is only the start of a hiring cycle that can stretch for months, and experienced Angular developers are harder to find than generalist front-end engineers. If you need senior Angular capacity sooner, Ryz Labs can match you with senior Angular developers from Latin America who work on your team, work in your repos and join your standups, within an hour of US time zones. Only the top 1% of the engineers we interview make it through our vetting, which covers RxJS, change detection, signals and real migration experience.
Our staff augmentation model lets you add one developer or several without changing your process. Ryz engineers join your team and report to your leads. Talk to us to scope your team. If you are hiring on your own, our Angular interview questions cover what we test and what strong answers sound like.
FAQ
Should I hire for signals or RxJS experience?
Ask for both. Signals are now the main way to handle state in modern Angular, but RxJS remains central for HTTP calls, events and existing code. A senior developer should explain when each fits and how to bridge them with toSignal and toObservable.
Can a React developer do an Angular job?
A strong React developer can learn Angular, but it takes time to become productive with dependency injection, RxJS and Angular's conventions. For a senior role in a large Angular app, especially one mid-migration, hire someone with production Angular experience.
What should an Angular job description say about legacy code?
State the current version, whether any AngularJS remains, and what share of the work is migration versus new features. Honest detail here attracts developers who enjoy modernization and keeps away those who only want greenfield work.
