Remote .NET developer work from Canada, on US teams
What US teams look for in a .NET engineer, how working their hours from Canada plays out and how the Ryz Labs process works.
By the Ryz Labs team · Updated October 2026
Ryz Labs places senior .NET developers on US companies’ teams. You work remotely from Canada, on US business hours, with the same tools, meetings and leads as the rest of the team.
What the work is like
Day to day, you work with one US company’s team: the same tools, the same backlog and the same technical leads. You join planning, review code and present your work in demos. The teams Ryz works with include Fortune 500 engineering teams.
How your day lines up with a US team depends on your province:
- Ontario and Quebec (Eastern Time): the same clock as New York.
- Atlantic Canada: one hour ahead of New York in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and PEI.
- Manitoba (Central Time): the same clock as Chicago; Saskatchewan matches Chicago in winter and Denver in summer.
- Alberta (Mountain Time): two hours behind New York.
- British Columbia (Pacific Time): the same clock as California.
Everything happens in English and in real time with the team, so clear communication matters as much as technical depth: explaining a decision, asking for context and pushing back when something does not add up.
What US teams look for in a .NET developer
Many US companies run their core systems on .NET and Azure. They want engineers who know modern .NET and can move older applications to the cloud.
- Modern C#: .NET 8, async/await, LINQ and sound design practices.
- ASP.NET Core: Web API, minimal APIs, middleware and authentication.
- Data: Entity Framework Core and SQL Server, with an eye on performance.
- Azure: App Service, Functions, Service Bus and Azure DevOps pipelines.
- Migrations: from .NET Framework to modern .NET without stalling the product.
- Testing: xUnit or NUnit and integration tests.
How to prepare
Before your interviews, have clear answers on topics like these:
- How async/await works under the hood and the mistakes to avoid.
- Dependency injection and service lifetimes in ASP.NET Core.
- Tuning queries in Entity Framework Core.
- Planning a migration from .NET Framework to modern .NET.
How the selection process works
- Apply. You apply through the Join the team page with your experience and main stack.
- AI-assisted technical interview. A structured technical conversation about your real experience. People make the decisions, not the AI.
- Interviews with Ryz recruiters. They go deeper into your experience, how you work and how you communicate.
- Introduction to the team. When a team matches your profile, we introduce you. The last step is a final interview with that team.
Only the top 1% make it: of the tens of thousands of engineers we interview, very few join a team, so we take every step seriously.
Who we look for
- Senior experience with .NET, with systems in production.
- Clear, confident spoken and written English for daily teamwork.
- Based in Canada and available during US business hours.
- Ownership: taking an ambiguous problem all the way to production.
- Comfort with asynchronous work across time zones.

Does .NET Framework experience count?
Yes, especially for migration projects, but teams expect solid modern .NET and ASP.NET Core skills.
Is Azure required?
Not always. Azure is common on .NET teams, but some run on AWS. What matters is knowing one cloud and its services well.
Can I apply with experience in more than one stack?
Yes. Many engineers know several technologies well. In the interviews we go deep on what you know best and what you have shipped.
What does Ryz Labs do?
Ryz Labs places senior engineers and AI pods on US companies’ teams. Founded in 2021, it is headquartered in Calabasas, California (Los Angeles area), and has more than 200 people.
How is AI used in the selection process?
One stage is an AI-assisted technical interview. It structures the process, but people make the decisions: Ryz recruiters review every profile.
How long does the process take?
It depends on your profile and on which teams are growing at the time. The stages are always the same, and you will know where you stand.
